That, Natsume was
sure of.
The girl
shivered, and moaned quietly underneath the cold grasp of her room
mate, her eyes staring blankly forward as her pulse came to a slow
quiver.
Pulling back
before it died away completely, Natsume calmly caught the girl in her
arms as she slumped down to the floor. The warm metallic taste was
still on her lips, as the vampire whispered, “You're my possession
now, Kami... never forget that..”. Kami was silent and drained, but
she heard, and understood each word she was being told. Though
Natsume's power of blocking memories would make it so that Kami would
not remember these weekly events with her room mate, the words that
Natsume spoke would be subtly remembered.
A Black-veined
butterfly drifted gently pass the window, through the crisp midnight
air..

Chapter
One
“Look, Natsume!
The Night Class are returning back to their dorms!”, Kami pulled
excitedly on Natsume's black uniform, dragging her - despite her
unenthusiastic approach to the Night Class – to the crowd that now
gathered around the pale-skinned students. Aidou, one of the more
popular members of the Night Class, flashed a flirty grin in Kami's
direction, causing her cheeks to stain a crimson red. Natsume's own
face filled with anger, which she directed to Kami in the form of a
harsh glare. She didn't need to say anything, her expression spoke
for her. Gasping at the sudden look, Kami grabbed Natsume's arms
tightly, “Senpai! You're the only one Kami cares about, I promise!”
She cried in a desperate attempt to retrieve her room mate's love and
care. She gave in rather quickly, which was not something that came
normally when the Night Class was involved, but she had done rather
well so far to stay underneath their radar.
They never even
noticed her.
Calmly pushing
Kami behind her back, blocking her view of the Night Class, Natsume
stared with a subtle anger to the slowly closing gates of the Night
Class dorms. When she turned her attention to those who were stud
calmly at the other side, waiting for the gates to close before they
moved on to their dorms, Natsume's eyes grew ever-so wider when she
caught Kaname Koran, the head of the Night Class students, looking
almost curiously over his shoulder at her.
She'd caught his
attention.

“Senpai?”,
Natsume looked slowly up from the thin book she held in her right
hand. She was perched calmly on the window ledge, her free arm
resting on her left knee, and her right leg dangling loosely down to
the floor. “Hmm?”. Kami shifted nervously under her room mate's
cold gaze, but held her ground. “Senpai, why do you hate the Night
Class so much?”. If she was surprised, or even felt anything
towards the question, Natsume didn't show it. She lowered her book
entirely, and turned her full attention to the little human whom she
held so dear.
A long silence
followed.
Natsume continued
to stare at Kami, who also continued to squirm under her intense
eyes.
Letting her book
fall loosely to the ground, Natsume continued to delve into her room
mate's wide blue eyes, as she walked slowly closer.
Pushing her
gently against the wall with one hand on her shoulder, and the other
resting against the wall above Kami's head, Natsume took the time to
stare into her eyes a little longer, searching for a motive behind
the sudden question. How could Kami have seen the anger that she
fought so hard to keep behind her eyes, if only for the sake of
trying to appear normal and human?
Finally giving
in, Kami looked anxiously away from Natsume's searching eyes; she
stared quickly at the floor, playing nervously with the sleeve of her
uniform.
Oh how Natsume
hated her when she did this.
Forcing her to
look into her eyes, Natsume tilted the humans chin up to face her,
her lips almost immediately meeting the soft of Kami's own lips.
She moved her
kisses slowly down Kami's face, and onto the warm hollow of her neck.
She moaned softly, almost reluctantly, from Natsume's kiss, the cold
feel of her hand on Kami's bare thigh, her hands trembling softly at
her side as her lips parted slightly in a feeble attempt to form
words..
“Sen..
senpai..” her words went unnoticed by Natsume, who continued to
press her lips softly to her neck, but Kami's own strength began to
suddenly grow. Taking a leap of faith, she grabbed a hold of the hand
the caressed her thigh, and pushed back on the vampire's chest,
gasping a little at the effort.
Natsume herself
staggered back from the sudden outburst, but quickly regained her
balance, and stared blankly to Kami, who held her wrist in shock
whilst small tears began to form in the corners of her eyes.
“D-Don't change
the subject!” The girl was standing up for herself. A rare
occurrence, especially when it was against her, Natsume thought.
Realising how
loud her words had been said, Kami gasped lightly, and looked down to
the ground in shame. “I know my place by Natsume-senpai's side, but
I want to know..” she looked slowly up to meet Natsume's deep
crimson eyes.
…
“Why... do you
hate the Night Class?”.
Natsume remained
motionless, and silent, her pale, slim hands were perfectly still at
her side as she took in the trembling human before her.
She blinked.
Kami felt a warm
numbing feeling flow out through her body, and a gasp rise from
within her, but by the time it arose, she fell to her knees, quickly
caught in the arms of Natsume, who held her sleeping body.
“Rest now,
Kami. You belong to me” she whispered emotionless as she picked her
gently up in her arms, and carried Kami to her own bed. She was never
surprised at how quickly her powers took effect on humans, especially
on Kami. Resting her head carefully against her pillow, Natsume
brushed a stray piece of hair from the girl's face, trailing one
finger down her soft cheek, and tracing the softly throbbing vein
along Kami's neck. “I won't tolerate such questions from you..”.
Natsume's lips
hovered painfully close to her neck, hesitating, before plunging
quickly through the skin so as not to hurt her more than needed be. A
quiet gasp of air escaped her sleeping body, as her blood was, almost
lovingly, drained from her fragile mortal body.
Pulling back with
a slow intake of breath, she licked her lips carefully, allowing the
sweet taste of her humans blood to linger on for some time. She
brought her lips down a final time to kiss, and slowly heal the small
bite marks, before she stud up from the bedside, and turned her
attention to the window.
A quick shadow
dashed away from the trees.
Panic began to
swell inside Natsume as she ran to the window side, throwing open the
curtains and staining the room with moonlight. Pulling up the window,
she took a long, deep breath through her nose.
The scent,
somehow, was gone.
Who
had seen her? …
