Ice Chain - My Vampire Knight Fanfiction (Yuri 18+) Chapter 3

Chapter 3

...and so, our plan is to lure her out using the girl. You understand why this is of the utmost importance, do you not, headmaster?”, Kaien Cross, the headmaster and founder of the academy, sat with his chin resting on his folded hands. Glancing briefly to the still passed-out body of Kami, he turned back to Siren, who stud with her back to Kaname Kuran, who himself continued to study the human girl who lay in a chair of the study. The headmaster sighed, closing his eyes to do so, before looking back up to the two vampires before him.
“I understand the seriousness of this matter, of course. How and why she was able to transfer to this academy without my knowing of her true self is beyond me, and she mustn't be allow to control and manipulate a single one of our students, not anymore”, he sat up straight in his chair, facing the two, who now both returned his stare, “Which is why I will allow you to take Kami Nakamura into your care, until our vampire reveals herself”.
Over the course of the evening, Natsume's room mate was moved from her own dorm into one of the Night Class rooms, where she would be monitored until she awoke, and questioned, whilst vampires attempted to pick up on, and track the scent of Kami's mystery vampire associate from their shared dorm.
Of course, having hidden herself well these past few years, Natsume knew when and where to remain whilst this investigation into her whereabouts and identity was being held. Knowing this day to have been inevitable since her arrival to the human-vampire academy, she had long since destroyed her file, making her unknown to the Night Class students.
She hadn't, of course, forgotten or given up on Kami, her treasured one, her lover. Her possession.

Kami stirred slowly from her restless sleep, haunted by dreams of bloody battles and crimson eyes, she was thankful to finally be able to leave her slumber behind. She awoke to a strange bed, in an unfamiliar room and location, with a pair of calm eyes watching her.
Straining her eyes to make out the face of the figure who sat beside her bed, Kami rubbed her eye slowly, before taking a long yawn. “I'm glad to see that you're awake, Kami-chan”. She did not recognise the soft voice immediately, but after allowing her eyes to adjust to the low light of the room, the face of her watcher became clear to her, “Yuki-sama?”.
The Kuran princess's sweet expression calmed Kami, as she explained the situation, though, despite having only in the past few hours had it explained to herself by Siren, Yuki knew not to reveal the whole truth of the situation to her just yet. “...and Siren-san brought you back here. We thought it'd be best if we kept an eye on you, and made sure that you're okay”, Yuki hesitated. She wasn't very good at beating around the bush, so to speak. “Especially considering that your room mate has disappeared”. Kami snapped to attention, a quick gasp escaping her lips. With wide eyes, she sat upwards and questioned the vampire before her, “Natsume-senpai has disappeared?!”. Yuki narrowed her eyes slightly, and tilted her head. “You seem really worried, Kami-chan. How close were you, you and... Natsume?”.
The human girl blushed, looking awkwardly down to her lap, where she pressed her closed fists down into. “I-I just want to know what’s going on, Yuki-sama”, her confidence building as Yuki pried into the personal matter, Kami looked back up to the Kuran princess, her face a mixed expression of worry and determination. “If Natsume-senpai has done something wrong, or you know anything at all, please tell me, Yuki-sama”.
The pureblood princess smiled sadly, as Ruka Souen stepped out from the shadows behind her. Kami hadn't even known she was there. “We'll tell you everything, and more, once you tell us everything you know of your room mate”.

Chapter 2

“Hime-sama” Seiren bowed calmly before the pureblood, who stud alone at the window ledge, quietly watching the night-sky. She turned almost gracefully to tell Seiren, once again, that she needn’t bow, nor address her as 'princess'. “Forgive me.. Kuran-sama. But, I have come to the end of my report” … “I thought that you should be the first to know...”

Crimson eyes slowly peeled open, only to be repelled again by a sudden, burning sunlight,
“Kami.. what did I say about opening the curtains in the morning?” She mumbled, turning over onto her side, letting the cold of the wall hit her forehead as she rested her face against the cool plaster. She didn't need to open her eyes to see Kami smile; her voice always gave away her emotions. “But it's such a beautiful day~!”, Natsume listened, her eyes now slightly open but not looking at anything in particular. She listened as Kami twirled towards the window, breathing lightly as she opened it and a warm summer breeze fell in.
She was silent for a moment as she watched the outside world, before she turned back to Natsume, still smiling. “It's a Saturday, so I thought we'd go into the town, you know?”.
Natsume grumbled. The sun was already harsh to her immortal eyes, not to mention that the current sun was in summer. It would be particularly unbearable.
She heard Kami protest, but she barely listened.
“Please, Natsume... it-it would... make me happy”.

Kami had her attention now.

She was a sucker for fulfilling Kami's human needs, whether that be by eating human food, though it tasted stale and plain to her, or carrying out her more intimate requests.
Letting the thin bed sheets be pulled off her momentarily as Kami climbed into bed beside her and held onto her back like a child, Natsume felt her softer side begin to show through.
With a sudden burst of energy, she pulled Kami by the arm on top of her; with a defeated smile, she brushed her lips with a cold fingertip. “Let me get a shower first..”.

* * *
The town was full of other students from Cross Academy, but Natsume paid them no heed as she let Kami pull her along through the streets. She had insisted that she bring a parasol with them, but had, of course, not expanded on as to why.
Her immortality was a secret that even Kami could not be trusted with.
“It's strange, don't you think? They're so selective about who is allowed to join the Night Class...” Said Kami in between a dainty scoop of her flavoured ice. Natsume looked up from hers; she'd barley touched it. “I thought I told you, I don't like talking about them...”. Kami pulled a face when she saw Natsume poking her dessert, boredom slashed across her face. Leaning impatiently over the table, she picked up the little plastic spoon, and began to feed Natsume the cold treat, until she finally held up her hand, telling her to stop.

Silence replaced their conversation.

“Natsume?”, “Hm?”. Kami, though first confident in what she was going to say, had become shy and nervous, barely plucking up the courage to finish her sentence. In the end, Natsume did it for her.
“Let's walk. I want to talk to you, Kami..”. At this, her eyes lit up.
Senpai-sama.. wants to talk to me about something important!
Natsume was already stud, her parasol held up above her head, her hand held out calmly waiting for Kami to take it, which she did, readily.

“W-where... are we going, Natsume?”. She didn't reply. They were not going anywhere, in particular. But now, she feared, they were lost.
Alone, she would have easily been able to use the rooftops to navigate her way back, but with Kami, that wasn't a risk she was willing to take.
She sighed, irritated. Knowing that being able to get back, or, at least, if once she'd told Kami what she came to discuss with her and she wanted to run, was more important than what she had to say.
Making a final decision mentally, she turned to Kami, and handed her her parasol. The sun was now hidden behind a veil of clouds, which eased the light heating sensation on her skin, but not entirely, she put both hands onto her shoulders. “Wait here. I'm going to go find a way back. You must promise me that you will wait here, and don't loose the parasol. Understand, Kami?”. She looked for a moment in Natsume's serious eyes, before smiling, and nodding, clutching the parasol tightly, “I'll stay right here, until you come and get me...”, Natsume gave a light smile at her innocence, before turning. She took one last, careful scan of the area, and left.

Kami was alone.

* * *

The sky had sunk from a calm blue, to uneasy streaks of red and orange, the summer air cooling caused her to shiver. Kami clutched the parasol tightly, though the chances of her loosing it were slim, she was very protective of Natsume's things.
“She'll be back very soon. She wouldn't leave me here, I know that” Kami did her best to smile, but she found that she was beginning to doubt that promise.
It had been early afternoon when Natsume had left; she had no way of knowing what the time was now...
“All alone, are we?”. Kami gasped, the shock of the voice causing the parasol to drop suddenly out of her hand.
Dropping into a bow, she apologised quickly, falling to her knees to retrieve it from the ground.
The figure said nothing.
“I really am very sorry, sir. I-I'm just a little lost, you see, and I am waiting for-” a cold, slender hand felt its way onto her shoulder.
A smirk.
“You're very warm...” the figure crouched down beside Kami, who's eyes were wide with fear and confusion as he moved his hand over the jugular vein along her neck, applying a light pressure to it with two chilled fingers. She shivered under his grip, and squeezed her eyes shut as she felt his sharp nails dig their way into her skin.
Warm blood trickled.
The figure smiled darkly, and took a long intake of breath through his nose, his eyes closing and then reopening with a toothy grin.
“You're blood has such an enticing smell.. but- what is this? You're taken by another..”.
Kami's eyes remained shut as she stuttered, “A-another?”. The figure began to laugh deeply, as he dipped his fingers into the trail of blood that now fell down her neck, bringing them to his mouth and licking his fingertips slowly.
“P-please... stop...”.
He laughed again, this time grabbing a hold of her neck, forcing her to the floor as he lay over her, his loose arm propping him up against the ground.
“Such a weak, fragile human...”

His eyes... a crimson red... a deep, lusting hunger for...

A flash appeared in Kami's mind.

Natsume. Crimson red eyes... they too were lusting for something...

His hands entangled themselves in her hair as he laughed again, this time it was loud, echoing against the tight, empty streets around them, as his head plunged down towards her neck.

A sharp pain... I have felt it before...

“Release the girl, and perhaps I shall make your death a little less painful” a voice called across the courtyard, the caller's shadow cast over the two figures laying still on the ground.
Kami felt her attacker's body tense as he looked up to the speaker. What she first thought was fear from her attacker soon seemed to turn to amusement.
“Well well well...” he said confidently, lifting himself up from the ground, leaving Kami numb and weak from his attack, “If it isn't a little pureblood's spy. I can smell that arrogant scent on you-” he was barely able to finish his sentence, before the speaker knocked him back across the courtyard in a dash of blood and breaking bones, sending Kami's attacker hurtling against the wall of a far building.
When the dust had cleared a little from the impact, Kami saw the man stagger to his feet, before failing to have enough strength to stay upright, and fall weakly back to the ground.
A pale hand came into the girl's view, as she gasped at the sudden coldness of the speaker's skin, who dragged her up to her feet.
“S-siren-senpai... of the.. Night Class...?” weak from the attack and the days events, Kami slumped, unconscious into the waiting arms of the vampire who served the Kuran clan.
The bodyguard to Lord Kaname sighed, as she lifted Kami up into her arms to carry her back to the academy. Looking down to the girl in her arms, she thought, “What would a rouge vampire want from a human as weak as this?”.

A familiar scent drifted through the air, causing her to turn her attention lighting quick in the direction of the rooftop of the abandoned building, against which the body of the ex-human vampire who had attacked this little human that she held, lay.
Her expression remained one of seriousness. She was here on business. Letting her gaze remain on the building for what felt like a lifetime, she finally turned her back to the roof, before jumping into the air with the motionless body of Kami, using the rooftops as her pathway back to Cross Academy.
Stepping out from the shadow of the chimney she had hidden behind when Siren had turned to face her direction, Natsume rested one hand on the bricks of the structure that had once exhaled smoke, but now lay dormant. Her eyes glowed a heavy crimson, and though her glare didn't show the full extent of her anger that not only had a filthy ex-human dared touch her Kami, but that now a pureblood spy was involved.
Never taking her attention away from the retreating Siren, Natsume slammed her hand that had rested against the chimney through the bricks, her eyes squinting viciously in the direction of the Night Class vampire.

Her blood was warm and untouched by any other.

That, Natsume was sure of.

The girl shivered, and moaned quietly underneath the cold grasp of her room mate, her eyes staring blankly forward as her pulse came to a slow quiver.
Pulling back before it died away completely, Natsume calmly caught the girl in her arms as she slumped down to the floor. The warm metallic taste was still on her lips, as the vampire whispered, “You're my possession now, Kami... never forget that..”. Kami was silent and drained, but she heard, and understood each word she was being told. Though Natsume's power of blocking memories would make it so that Kami would not remember these weekly events with her room mate, the words that Natsume spoke would be subtly remembered.

A Black-veined butterfly drifted gently pass the window, through the crisp midnight air..

Chapter One

“Look, Natsume! The Night Class are returning back to their dorms!”, Kami pulled excitedly on Natsume's black uniform, dragging her - despite her unenthusiastic approach to the Night Class – to the crowd that now gathered around the pale-skinned students. Aidou, one of the more popular members of the Night Class, flashed a flirty grin in Kami's direction, causing her cheeks to stain a crimson red. Natsume's own face filled with anger, which she directed to Kami in the form of a harsh glare. She didn't need to say anything, her expression spoke for her. Gasping at the sudden look, Kami grabbed Natsume's arms tightly, “Senpai! You're the only one Kami cares about, I promise!” She cried in a desperate attempt to retrieve her room mate's love and care. She gave in rather quickly, which was not something that came normally when the Night Class was involved, but she had done rather well so far to stay underneath their radar.
They never even noticed her.
Calmly pushing Kami behind her back, blocking her view of the Night Class, Natsume stared with a subtle anger to the slowly closing gates of the Night Class dorms. When she turned her attention to those who were stud calmly at the other side, waiting for the gates to close before they moved on to their dorms, Natsume's eyes grew ever-so wider when she caught Kaname Koran, the head of the Night Class students, looking almost curiously over his shoulder at her.
She'd caught his attention.

“Senpai?”, Natsume looked slowly up from the thin book she held in her right hand. She was perched calmly on the window ledge, her free arm resting on her left knee, and her right leg dangling loosely down to the floor. “Hmm?”. Kami shifted nervously under her room mate's cold gaze, but held her ground. “Senpai, why do you hate the Night Class so much?”. If she was surprised, or even felt anything towards the question, Natsume didn't show it. She lowered her book entirely, and turned her full attention to the little human whom she held so dear.

A long silence followed.

Natsume continued to stare at Kami, who also continued to squirm under her intense eyes.
Letting her book fall loosely to the ground, Natsume continued to delve into her room mate's wide blue eyes, as she walked slowly closer.
Pushing her gently against the wall with one hand on her shoulder, and the other resting against the wall above Kami's head, Natsume took the time to stare into her eyes a little longer, searching for a motive behind the sudden question. How could Kami have seen the anger that she fought so hard to keep behind her eyes, if only for the sake of trying to appear normal and human?
Finally giving in, Kami looked anxiously away from Natsume's searching eyes; she stared quickly at the floor, playing nervously with the sleeve of her uniform.
Oh how Natsume hated her when she did this.
Forcing her to look into her eyes, Natsume tilted the humans chin up to face her, her lips almost immediately meeting the soft of Kami's own lips.
She moved her kisses slowly down Kami's face, and onto the warm hollow of her neck. She moaned softly, almost reluctantly, from Natsume's kiss, the cold feel of her hand on Kami's bare thigh, her hands trembling softly at her side as her lips parted slightly in a feeble attempt to form words..
“Sen.. senpai..” her words went unnoticed by Natsume, who continued to press her lips softly to her neck, but Kami's own strength began to suddenly grow. Taking a leap of faith, she grabbed a hold of the hand the caressed her thigh, and pushed back on the vampire's chest, gasping a little at the effort.
Natsume herself staggered back from the sudden outburst, but quickly regained her balance, and stared blankly to Kami, who held her wrist in shock whilst small tears began to form in the corners of her eyes.
“D-Don't change the subject!” The girl was standing up for herself. A rare occurrence, especially when it was against her, Natsume thought.
Realising how loud her words had been said, Kami gasped lightly, and looked down to the ground in shame. “I know my place by Natsume-senpai's side, but I want to know..” she looked slowly up to meet Natsume's deep crimson eyes.
“Why... do you hate the Night Class?”.
Natsume remained motionless, and silent, her pale, slim hands were perfectly still at her side as she took in the trembling human before her.
She blinked.
Kami felt a warm numbing feeling flow out through her body, and a gasp rise from within her, but by the time it arose, she fell to her knees, quickly caught in the arms of Natsume, who held her sleeping body.
“Rest now, Kami. You belong to me” she whispered emotionless as she picked her gently up in her arms, and carried Kami to her own bed. She was never surprised at how quickly her powers took effect on humans, especially on Kami. Resting her head carefully against her pillow, Natsume brushed a stray piece of hair from the girl's face, trailing one finger down her soft cheek, and tracing the softly throbbing vein along Kami's neck. “I won't tolerate such questions from you..”.
Natsume's lips hovered painfully close to her neck, hesitating, before plunging quickly through the skin so as not to hurt her more than needed be. A quiet gasp of air escaped her sleeping body, as her blood was, almost lovingly, drained from her fragile mortal body.
Pulling back with a slow intake of breath, she licked her lips carefully, allowing the sweet taste of her humans blood to linger on for some time. She brought her lips down a final time to kiss, and slowly heal the small bite marks, before she stud up from the bedside, and turned her attention to the window.
A quick shadow dashed away from the trees.
Panic began to swell inside Natsume as she ran to the window side, throwing open the curtains and staining the room with moonlight. Pulling up the window, she took a long, deep breath through her nose.

The scent, somehow, was gone.

Who had seen her? …

Rather..

Tomorrow I am four weeks.. a whole month, clean.
Before I lost the girl I loved, I had managed to go almost a whole year without cutting, but after that, I'd never come anywhere near going a whole four week period without hurting myself, so I cannot deny I am proud of myself. I have felt sad sometimes during this time, but I haven't hurt myself, and I cannot say how happy I am that I have reached this milestone - here's to many more weeks clean.

Anyways, now we have gotten over that, let me talk about my recent worry. I started arguing with a friend of mine, Bianca, today. I got angry that we hardly speak anymore, and she said that I make everything about myself.
And you know, I do, don't I?
Everything. I make it all about me.

If someone I care about is going through something, I'll use an experience of my own to try and explain things, or if someone is having a problem, I'll say something like "If you think that's bad, this is what happened to me..". I spend all my time online, blogging and complaining about my little mess of a life. And I'm sorry.

It'll drive everyone away in the end.. but honestly, how else do I get things out? Do you want me to cut it out, rather than complain it out? You know, as much as it annoys and angers people to see me complaining, and making out that I'm a victim of a 'tragic and torturous life', I'd rather complain than have more scars. I really would.

Where do I fit in?

So today, I am three weeks clean *mini cheer*. For those of you who read this, that means that I have managed to refrain from cutting for the past twenty one days.

During my English lesson today, I found myself wondering something - were exactly do I fit in?
I mostly thought about my friendship groups (I will not be ashamed of naming people, as nobody read's this anyway, thank goodness) - with my friends, Natasha and Beth go together, Jenny and her friend Elise, Curtis and Charlotte, Ilze and Rachel, Shannon and her friend Lauren, Leah and Bryony.. who do I go with? Even when I used to have Rowena, it was still never 'Connie and Rowena - best friends', it was Rachel and Rowena. I knew that then, and I know that I still don't have a place now.

I won't deny that I'm not a good friend. I'm clingy, miserable, I never want to go places or leave the house.. I don't like socializing either, yet I hate being alone when in school or in public. I don't buy my friends presents for their birthdays or Christmas, and I lie a lot. Last time I bought a friend a present, it was for Rowena, therefore I can now use some shitty excuse, like 'everyone I buy presents for leaveeeeessss meeeeeeee'.

I don't know. Something like that.

Anyway. Not only that, but where do I fit in when it comes to crowds? I'm anything but mainstream. I'm not into the same things as my friends. Am I in the otaku crowd because I watch anime? Am I in the depressed kids crowd because I cut? Am I in the geek crowd because I collect figurines and watch Lord of the Rings? Am I in the queer crowd because I'm bi? Am I in the smart kids crowd because I'm getting A's in English? Am I in the stupid kids crowd because I'm getting E's in Maths?

*Sigh*. I don't know anymore.
